What We Do

The Coalition for Collaborative Governance advocates for our local governments to become more transparent, collaborative, and accountable in their relationship with our community members.

Our coalition also advocates for our local governmental entities to fully align their culture, policies, and practices with their strategic plans and other planning documents.

Members participate in our coalition by:

  • Researching and analyzing local governmental issues and potential policy solutions.

  • Discussing these issues as a group, compiling our coalition’s feedback, and submitting it to government officials.

  • Advocating on policies when our coalition has held substantive discussions about the topic and agrees upon a stance.

  • Identifying policies and practices that need improvements and identify successful practices that could be employed across more departments.

We believe that complex problems are best solved when more people with different perspective collaborate. We believe our resident knowledge and analysis can provide a foundation for improvements in our City’s processes and in our community’s relationship with our government.

Our Goals

  1. Develop more collaborative relationships between local government and its residents.

  2. Identify recurrent challenges and successful practices in local governmental processes.

  3. Promote solutions to make our local governments’ cultures, policies, and practices more transparent, collaborative, and accountable.

Our Outreach

Our coalition is actively connecting with community members, organizations, elected officials, candidates, and local governmental entities to build a community team to improve government functioning in Lawrence. We function as an educational resource to inform these individuals and organizations about City issues and our coalition’s concerns and challenges, and to collaborate with them to craft potential solutions.
